A pet photography session with two very active Dobermans – Manchester

The Photo shoot location
I met up with Charlene, Geoff and their two dobermans a morning of February. The location was the playing fields (Chorlton Water Park) , a place we tough would be quiet but it was a little bit more lively then expected ! It’s quite a popular place for dog owners to go for a walk so we had to find the quieter areas for the photoshoot.
Charlene was the one who wanted to commissioned a pet photographer to produce a large framed image to put on the wall of their new house. She have seen my work and knew I would be able to give the images that she was hoping to put on her wall.

The dogs
For the photo session we had their two Doberman, Nahla a three year old female and Nelson a four year old male.
Nahla was adopted by Charlene and Geoff and is normallyquite frightened of strangers. I did not really see that side of her during the photoshoot, she was quite happy with me being there with my camera. In fact that day she was a better behaved than Nelson !

Manchester pet photographer – How did the session unfold?
Most of the time I will start with the portraits of the dogs and portraits of the dogs and owner. Sometimes it’s not always possible if the dog as to much energy for example, in that case it is better to start with the action shots. If the dogs can concentrate on the commands that is always great. However I always have different tricks that I use when I work with different type of dogs to get the best of the session. For example some dogs are very toy focussed, Nelson was in that category. We used is favourite ball and I kept it close to me to bring his attention to the camera. The ordering session
Normally, the ordering session takes place at my client’s home. However Charlene and Geoff were in the middle of a house move so we opted for a coffee shop instead of the normal place.
For the main image for their large frame, they selected the portrait of both dogs together. Charlene also decided on fifteen high resolution images on a USB.
