A pet photography session in Dunham Massey, Cheshire

At the end of April I met up with Sarah and Bertie at Dunham Massey (Cheshire, UK) for a dog photography session. I knew Sarah as we both have horses at the same yard, she has been following my photography business since the beginning. She was keen to have some pictures of her puppy (6 months old) Bertie, a British Bulldog who came to live with her and her four cats. Bertie is a very friendly dog towards people and other dogs, everybody wanted to have a cuddle from him šŸ™‚

I suggested Dunham Massey as there are a lot of potential for interesting backgrounds in a relativity small area. I knew about the cobble street and the blue doors at Dunham Massey as I visit it from time to time. It’s a nice place to see a little bit of wild life and practise my photography skills!

The creative session

The park was quite busy so we tried to find more isolated areas to get Bertie to concentrate on what we were asking from him. However, he had a little bit too much energy that morning so instead of starting with the portrait style of images, we opted for some action shots!

He did really well there as he was quite focused on catching his ball. So the actions shots were quite easy to set-up, my job was to get the right timing and everything in focus!

After a little play, Bertie was starting to be a little bit tired so that’s when we started working on the portraits. Even though Sarah was trying everything in her power to have Bertie to sit, he would have none of it ! There was too much things to look at around and he would not stay still for long.

The ordering session

I met Sarah (and Bertie) at her home for her ordering session. Sarah opted for my most popular package which includes all the high resolution digital images, a large frame and a luxury box of 10 mounted prints. She also added a smaller frame of her favourite image. For her investment, Sarah hasĀ also received a complementary photoshoot that she willĀ use with Bertie again when he is an adult. I am looking forward to see the differences and to photograph him again as an adult. Maybe a different location next time? ( that’s up to Sarah!).
